Public Information Campaign turns political: Felicitaion, poets meet held

Kolar district has not benefited in any way from the budget presented by the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, he has no knowledge about the plains alleged MLC V R Sudarshan.



He was speaking at a programme organised to felicitate famous personalities who have made significant contributions in various fields, as a part of the district Gadinad Utsav and Public Information Campaign, held at Netaji Stadium at Mulbagal.

The audience were taken aback by the sudden turn of a cultural programme into a political arena and especially a Congress campaign meet.

Sudarshan mentioned that the previous government had also sanctioned funds for the Yaragol drinking water project and did not find it special that the present government has sanctioned funds.

MLA Amaresh felicitated  personalities like K Prahlad Rao (Journalism), Satyanarayana Shastri (Literature), M V Muniratna (Administration), Rawuf Saab( Development of Kannada language) and Betamanagala Ramesh (Art).

Contact Meet

At the public contact programme organised as a part of the Public Information Campaign on Sunday, Kolar assistant commissioner Archana gave a  call to make proper utilisation of the campaign.

She said the public should submit applications seeking solutions to legal issues and they would be sorted within the legal framework.

Tahsildar Harishilpa announced that public contact meetings would be held every first and third Monday and that public could submit their applications.

The Sandhya Suraksha applications received will be dispensed with in 60 days of submitting the applications, she said.

As many as 4 applications for Sandhya Suraksha, 4 for BPL card, one for Podi, one for muzarai, 5 for seeking site and one for school site were received.

Poets’ Meet

As a part of the cultural programme a poets’ meet was held on Sunday at the same venue. Well known poet B R Lakshmana Rao who presided said Kolar district is known for its Kannada  and Telugu cordiality. The fold literature in Kolar is a fine blend of both languages, he said.

Kannada Book Authority former president  H G Siddaramaiah inaugurated the meet and lamented the lack of audience for poetry.

Senior citizen, freedom fighter Rayalpad Ramappanaidu, Sharada Vidyapeet secretary T S Ramesh, writer S Raghunath participated in the meet.

 Vijayraghavan, Meena Mysore, L N Mukundaraj, R Choudareddy, U V Narayanachar, Amrutayya, Dr Shivaraj Kulkarni, Subhan Priya, Suleiman Khan, Shivashankar, Beebeeja, Vanaraj read their poems.
