Breathless in bangalore

Charismatic Pop singer Usha Uthup was at her brightest best enthralling a niche crowd with her multilingual performance in the City on Friday. At a celebration held at a city hotel on Cunningham Road, she impressed the audience with her Kannada, Punjabi and Bengali songs among others. This was one breathless show.

She started off with the title track of her own composition followed by the English track, Fever. The dance floor was empty till she asked her fans to come down to the floor. Irrespective of their age, couples matched steps to the melody. However, the switch-over to the fast tracks changed the whole scenario as a middle-aged Kamal Hassan fan made an appearance and remained the main attraction throughout the show. He was later given a small gift by Usha Uthup.

The popular hit number Teri Aankhen Bhool Bhulaiyaa brought the guests together as they moved with the beats and their dinner plates. A Bengali fan wanted her to sing Kolkata Kolkata. She sang for him not on the stage but in the elevator leaving the fan flabbergasted. “It doesn’t really matter whether you are a Bengali or a Kannadiga, Usha Uthup would always be there for a crowd whose hearts beat with music”, she said.

Earlier, the host, Mark Regs conducted a jumbling game with newspapers which was  pretty short.
Later in the night, the show was taken over by DJ Loyed who presented the multilingual hits of 2007-2008.
