She clarified that owing to the election code of conduct, tender was not invited, instead we hired tankers to supply water.
Addressing a press meet, she said “there was intense shortage of drinking water. The decision to hire a tanker was taken in an emergency meeting. The rent for the tanker is not yet paid.”
Owing to the allegation levelled by some sections of the media, a committee has been constituted to probe into the matter. The report of the committee will be made known to the public.
She said “the Town Panchayat do not have EO and junior engineers. As a result, the expected work could not be undertaken. Owing to the shortage of engineers we could not invite tender to purchase generator.”
She said “it was decided to take developmental works worth Rs 5 lakh in 16 wards. However, owing to the shortage of engineers we could not invite tender.”
It was decided to give a facelift to all the bus stands in the town panchayat limits along with the development of market.
