Where shall we go leaving behind this fertile land), asked Devappa Gowda, a resident of Permude who will lose land due to the proposed MSEZ.

The victims of SEZ staged an unique protest, based on the theme of Hindi blockbuster Munnabai in front of KIADB office in Baikampady. The protestors handed over the vegetables, fruits, grown by them to the officials and said “let God give you wisdom.”

Karavali Karnataka Janabhivridi Vedike’s T R Bhat condemned the report that the land identified for the SEZ is a barren land instead of fertile land. Villagers are being cheated by the officials, he added.

Since Officer Prabhulinga Kavalikatti was on leave, other officials refuse to take the vegetables offered by the villagers. Instead, the villagers left the vegetables, fruits grown by them on the seat.  Krishibhoomi Samrakshana Samithi’s Krishnappa, Hemalatha, Mohammed Kunhi, John Sequeira were present.
