Konkani Sahitya Academy had introduced Konkani as third language for the sixth standard last year. Konkani is being taught as a third language for the sixth and seventh standard students now.

According to a press release, Konkani is being taught in Kannada script in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. Those schools which want to teach Konkani in Devnagari script will be provided with Konkani text books free of cost. The Konkani text books for the sixth standard have already arrived. The textbook for the seventh standard is expected soon.

Teachers/schools that are interested in teaching Konkani for the sixth and seventh standards in Devnagari script may collect Konkani text books that are available with the Academy.
