Govt college excels

Government first grade college in Haleyangadi, a rural college, has secured good results in the Mangalore University BA/BCom examination of 2007-08. According to a press release, the BA stream secured 88 percent result while BCom secured 73 percent. In the fourth semester, the pass percentage of BA is 86 while for BCom it is 65.

State athletic championship

The Karnataka State Junior/SEnior Athletic Championship is scheduled to be held in Bangalore from August 4 to 6 to select the state team for the South Zone Athletic Championship to be held at Coimbatore. Interested may submit their entries through their institution to Tharanath Shetty, Hon Secretary, DK District Athletic Association, 403, Deepa Arcade, Bejai Kapikad, on or before July 25.

Research fellow in Aloysius

The Laboratory of Applied Biology of St Aloysius College in Mangalore has received a grant of Rs 13.42 lakhs from the Central Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the national programme for the recovery of some red-listed species through applications of Biotechnological tools. Persons with an MSc in any branch of biology with a knowledge of plant tissue culture can apply with their biodata to the Director, Laboratory of Applied Biology, St Aloysius College, Mangalore- 575003 for a junior research fellowship under this project. Payment as per DBT rates.
