The deputy commissioner has issued stringent orders to provide permits to the farmers for the distribution of DAP and complex fertilisers in the district.
A meeting had been called in this regard, which was attended by the agriculture officers and the executive officers of the taluk panchayats. The deputy commissioner instructed the officials concerned to initiate measures for the efficient distributution of fertilisers in the district.
Since the NPK Complex fertiliser had not been supplied to the district as per the demand, due to shortage of this fertiliser, the farmers were unable to purchase it.
Substitute
The farmers were of purchasing the DAP fertiliser, instead of the NPK Complex, in view of its shortage. Making use of this situation, in order to purchase more of the DAP fertiliser, other members in the ‘guise of farmers’, were also purchasing the DAP fertiliser.
This was proving to be a difficulty to the real farmers.
In this backdrop, the village accountants have been advised by the Revenue Department, to provide permits to all the farmers in the district, who would get one bag (50 kgs) of DAP or NPK fertiliser, for every acre of land.
Immediate measures
The village accountants have been advised to initiate immediate measures to issue permits for the purchase of fertilisers.
The fertilisers would be distributed depending upon the size of the lands owned by the farmers.
The details of the permits issued, should be registered in the and all the permits should carry a serial number.
Precaution should be taken to ensure that, the permits were not repeatedly issued, the village accountants have been clearly instructed.
Submission
The farmers should submit their respective permits with any of the registered fertiliser traders in the taluk and purchase any of the fertilisers depending on the quantity he is permitted to purchase.
For no reason, the permits should be transferred. The traders have been instructed to submit the original permits to the respective taluk assistant agriculture director, everyday in the evening.
Redressal
The farmers have been further informed to complain the officials of the taluk Revenue Department or the Agriculture Department, if the traders state lack of supply of fertilisers or scarcity of fertilisers or try to sell the fertilisers at a higher rate, than the specified amount.
