Acquiring land for disposal of solid waste, purchasing land outside the city limits for slaughter houses, shifting slaughter houses in the city to the Sante Maidan, handing over the task of garbage disposal to Stree Shakti Sangha were some of the prominent issued discussed at the Kolar City Municipality’s general body meeting on Tuesday.
During the meeting package one and two with regard to the solid waste management were also tabled for discussion.
While majority had consensus on handing over the garbage disposal task to Stree Shakti Sanghas as this would help the organisation economically.
However, member Kusuma opposed the move on the ground that why women should always be chosen for sweeping and cleaning task.
However the move was welcomed after Vice President V K Rajesh and Commissioner Said Nilopher Zameen said that the government notification has approved handing over the task to Stree Shakthi Sanghas with their consent.
Besides it was also approved to deposit 50 per cent of the amount required for purchasing Auto tipper, tricycle, push carts and other equipment to Pragati Grameena Bank.
The meeting also approved the proposal for purchase of fogging machine to check outbreak of dengue and othe epidemics.
Other important decisions taken at the meeting include: to contract out maintanance works of Sarvajna Park, Kuvempu Park and Visveswaraiaha Park; acquisition of 16.25 acres of land in Seepura and Byapanahalli of Kasaba hobli in the taluk; tender-cum-auctioning of toilets build under SFC scheme; purchasing 10 acres of land (Survey No 150) in Vakkaleri for slaughter houses; to shift the mutton shops from Barline Masjid road to the area outside City limts.
