Musical treat at Chintamani

It was a musical treat for lovers of music who enjoyed three days of Vaggeyakara’s Aradhana Mahotsava organised by the Gayana Samaja in Chinthamani.

Vidwan L Y Srinivas Reddy presided over the concert and Vice President N S Prabhakar inaugurated the Mahotsava. Chennakeshava Murthy was the chief guest.

Vidwans, music students from across Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts performed at the concert which were held between 8 am and 12 noon everyday making it a grand success.

People from  all over the district thronged to listen to the concerts which went on for three days.

Festival schedule

On the first day of the Mahotsava, solo performance was given by Pattabhirama Pandit, Mandolin by Pakala Ramadas, Mrudanga by Arjun Kumar were held.

In the evening, Bhagyalakshmi Chandrashekhar presented the Veena accompanied by S V Giridhar, M A Krishna Murthy.

Balu Sai’s Veena performance, mrudanga by Karaikkudimani, Khanjari Shivathandava by Purushottham  won the hearts of art lovers.

Later the Vidwans were felicitated. Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department B S Venkatachalapathi participated as the chief guest on the first day.

On the second day of the concert, the audience were delighted by the performances by K V Rajaiyyangar and B V Raghavendra on Mandolin, Mrudanga by N Vasudeva, Ghatam by Dayananadamohite, Khanjari shotras by M T Rajakesari and C P Vyasavittal.

Former Home Minister Chowda Reddy presided over the concert. Dharmadhikari of Kaivara M R Jayaram, N C Srinivas Reddy attended as chief guests.

On the third day of the concert, songs from Yoginareyana Yatheendra, Thyagaraja’s Pancharathna songs were sung by Suresh from Nelluru, Vijayawada Brahmanandam and Pudukotai Ramanathan accompanied by Govardhan, Shankarachar, N Vasudev and Amrith Kumar. L Bheemachar, Saikrishnayachendra’s performances were also well appreciated by the audience.
Later, MLA Dr M C Sudhakar felicitated the artistes.
