Come weekend and the Bangalore Police goes cracking on drunken driving. As this drive, to catch erring drivers, was on at Assaye Road and Kamaraj Road Junction, our lensman got an opportunity to click some pictures that amply demonstrate how the policemen and of course, a woman carry out the entire operation. They stop the drivers for a random breath test which in many cases (mostly when the driver is drunk) is resisted by the drivers. If in the breath analyser, the reading is above the permissible level, then the driver is fined for drunken driving.
Bikers were stopped and so were the car drivers, even the autorickshaw drivers were not spared. On being caught, some argued and refused to shell out the fine money, others flaunted their connections. In the meantime, sensing danger one drunk driver sped away despite being stopped by Inspector C R Geetha, who was on duty at the spot.

To trap the fleeing driver, she not only alerted the policemen at the next signal but also took help from another private vehicle, in which she travelled and caught the drunken driver after a chase. Bravo woman! We admire your guts and and wish all the policemen did their duty with the same zeal and sincerity to make our metro a safe place to live in.
