BSP leader Brajesh Pathak alleged that the Congress leadership was using the CBI to “pressurise” his party and its leader Mayawati to support the UPA government in the confidence vote.

Basudev Acharya (CPM), Guru Das Gupta (CPI) and Anant Geete (SS) supported the BSP’s demand saying that the allegations were serious in nature and should be inquired by a House committee. Their demand was opposed by Beni Prasad Varma (SP) amid calls from treasury benches that the allegations were fabricated.
