The petitioner, V Shashidhar, President, Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasabha had moved the High Court seeking police protection alleging that a political party was issuing life threats to him.
In his petition, he had submitted that he does not belong to any political party, but had tried to project facts.
Written complaint
He said that he had written to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa complaining that some political hooligans had threatened him and had sought police protection, which has fallen on deaf ears.
He sought directions from the High Court to provide him protection.
Justice N Kumar observed, “The petitioner’s submission shows that he despite being the president of a non-political organisation has forgotten its objectives and is indulging in political activities under the guise of exercising his fundamental rights and freedom of speech.”
The Court has levied a cost of Rs 10,000 and dismissed the petition.
Not approached
The Court levied a cost of Rs 5000 on a couple, who had approached the Court without lodging a complaint with the police.
Petitioners Shamir Khan and his wife Jaya Mehta, City-based techies, had moved Court saying that anti-social elements, on instigation of the parents of Jaya Mehta, were preventing them from living together as they were against their wedding.
The couple sought directions to the police to arrest her parents.
The court has imposed the cost of Rs 5,000 for approaching the court before going to the Police.
