In this direction the PUE Department will conduct a state-level examination for the first year PUC in the last week of February across the State.
According to the new guidelines, a common examination timetable will be set for first year PUC and the evaluation will be done at taluk-level or district-level or clusterwise, comprising of ten or more aided or unaided colleges.
The committee constituted by the PUE Department studied various question papers and the results of the past two years.
The study resulted in variation of the timetables and standards of the question papers along with many factual errors in the them.
The committee also found that the questions did not cover the entire syllabus, nor did it abide by the prescribed PUE examination blueprint. Earlier first year PUC examinations were conducted at individual college-level including the setting of question paper and evaluation.
Many reforms regarding both academic and examinations, had been proposed besides emphasis on bridge courses for the first year PUC. The bridge course for first year PUC Science stream comprises of extra teaching hours where students are taught about topics which have not been covered in the SSLC, and those which are related to the comprehensive PUC syllabus.
