No auctioning of excess land

The State government has decided not to auction 325 acres of excess land acquired for International Airport in Devanahalli.

Tourism and Infrastructure Minister Janardhana Reddy, replying H D Revanna of member in the  Assembly, said that of 409 acres of excess land 83 acres 24 guntas has been distributed among various State and central government agencies at the rate of Rs 3 crore per acre. The remaining will be handed over to private parties who wish to establish tech parks or other industrial layouts on lease.

He said, the government gave compensation at the rate of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per acre to owners of 2,463 acres of land acquired in 2001.
