C B Prasannasimha Rao of BTM II Stage was duped to the tune of Rs 18, 000, which he had paid through his credit card to the Bangalore branch of Highlands Holiday Homes Pvt Ltd.
When he realised that he had been taken for a ride with false assurances by the manager of the Holiday Homes, he wanted his money back. The additional consumer forum’s president G Siddanagoud ordered Highlands Holiday Homes to return his money along with Rs 2,000 incurred by him during the process.
Vanishing act
Five people had paid various amounts to Jayakar Associates (earlier in Mittal Tower, M G Road) and now in Puttur Taluk, for the registration of their flats in 2,000.
They had been instructed by the president, Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) Housing Co-operative Society Ltd to entrust B P Jayakar, with the requisite amounts. After completion of the registration, several years passed but the advocate, B P Jayakar did not inform them about the expenditure involved.
He even did not refund the excess amount collected from them. In the meanwhile, he closed down his previous business and vanished. The IV Forum has ordered the advocate to pay various amounts to the five consumers along with Rs 2,000 as costs to each one of them.
Money gobbled
Sivajyothi Township and its Managing Director N H Bhaskar Reddy, Director Sudhakar Reddy and two more directors have collected Rs 1,57,000 from one Lavanya S, after which began her nightmare for five years, as the site promised to her never appeared. She finally went to the IV Forum which ordered all the directors to return her money and pay her Rs two lakh as compensation along with Rs 10,000.
Tours and travels
EZEEGO 1 Tours and Travels has been ordered by the consumer court to pay Rs 1,000 as compensation to complainant Shailendra Thakur, because the travel firm took too long to return the money due to him. He had booked air tickets through its website offering a 50 per cent cash back within a week, on domestic flights, if the consumer had used the ICICI platinum card. The court also ordered the firm to pay Rs 500 as costs incurred by him.
