Artistes get into the act
Bangalore, DHNS:
Not only the BJP, the Congress too has roped in artistes and theatre personalities to reach out to the voters. Actors under the leadership of small screen artist and theatre director Nagarajamurthy will be staging street plays across the state to campaign for the party.

Nagarajamurthy said in the previous elections many theatre persons and writers came together and held many cultural programmes to campaign against the BJP. “But this time we are asking the public to vote for the Congress”, he said.

He said the street play specially directed for the campaign revolves around communal agenda of the BJP, high-political drama in the last 20 months and particularly the resort politics. Artists in four troupes will tour the state and stage the play in junctions and intersections. Besides the party has also released an audio CD in which singers including M D Pallavi and Vijaya Kumar have sung songs in praise of the Congress. The songs have been written by former MLC L Hanumanthaiah, poet, Lakshmipathi Kolar and others.
