Evening with Manna De

All that jazz
Just Us from Kolkata is all set to play on May 5 at the Olive Beach for Monday Night Jazz, a series of evenings created to showcase and revive interest and excitement around jazz in the City. The jazz trio from Kolkata comprises Mainak, Sourav and Ratul.

Date with Agog
The Amsterdam jazz band Agog featuring a group of accomplished musicians will perform at the Grand Ashok, from 8 pm onwards on May 2.

Sacred and Profane
An ‘Evening of the Sacred and Profane’, a mixture of Western classical music ranging from baroque to contemporary, by Swedish singer Jonas Olsson and Neecia Majolly will take place on May 5, 7.30 pm at the Alliance Francaise de Bangalore. The concert will consist of a solo piano recital in the first half by Majolly, followed in the second half with a vocal recital by Jonas Olsson accompanied by Majolly on the piano.

Memorial concert
Shri Rama Kala Vedike, Department of Kannada and Culture and Canara Bank, will organise the 32nd memorial concert of the late Ramachandra Yavagal on May 4 at the Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road. Vocalists Rajan and Sajan Mishra will be presented Kalashingra Award. Watch the performance of Omkarnath Havaldar on the sitar and Venkatesh Kumar on Hindustani vocal at 6 pm. Venkatesh Godkhindi and Praveen Godkhindi will present a bansuri duet. Brothers Rajan and Sajan Mishra will provide a Hindustani vocal recital.  

Hindustani concert
The Bangalore Sangeet Sabha and Canara Union Arts Section is organising a Hindustani vocal concert by Gayatri Viragkar Joshi of Pune on May 3 at 6.30 pm. She will be accompanied by Dr Raveendra Katoti on the harmonium and Uday Raj Karpoor on the tabla.

Dharwad Utsav
Dharwad Utsav, a festival of classical music, is being organised on May 3 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The programme is dedicated to legendary musicians Pt Shripati Padigar and Ustad Bale Khan. The programme begins at 5.30 pm.

Classical recital
Gokhale Institute and Nadarshi Institute of Music is organising Hindustani classical recital by Ravindra Soregavi on May 11, 6 pm at Gokhale Institute, DVG Road, Basavanagudi. Udayaraj Karpur will accompany on tabla and Narasimha Kulkarni on harmonium.

Fusion band
Watch the first performance of Kannada fusion band ‘Urban Lads’ on May 2, 6 pm at #74, Ground Floor, Prestige Feroze, Cunningham Road.

Bharatanatyam recital
Natyeshwara Nrutya and Sangeetha Shala will present a dance performance by Pooja Rangaseshan, disciple of K P Satish Babu, at A D A Rangamandira, J C Road on May 3, 6 pm.

Kathak recital
‘Sree Krishna Tavasmi’, an evening of Kathak dance recital, by Suparna Venkatesh and Mysore B Nagaraj will be held on May 3, 6.30 pm at Seva Sadan Auditorium, 14th cross, opp Shirdi Baba Temple, Malleswaram.

Exhibition by Alay
A five-day exhibition by Alay under the H N Dwarakanath Endowment will be held at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s
E Hanumantha Rao Art Gallery from May 2 at 11 am. The exhibition will be on display between 10.45 am and 7 pm daily. The exhibition will be inaugurated by K K Raghava.

Remembering Dr Rajkumar
Raj Kalanama Kalapradarshana, an exhibition of paintings of late Dr Rajkumar will be on till May 7, 11 am to 7 pm at CKP, Kumara Krupa Road.

Book launch
Bangalore International Centre is organising the book launch of Jasleen Dhamija’s latest work, Kamala Chattopadhyay-A Biography published by National Book Trust, on May 3, 6.30 pm at TERI Auditorium, TERI complex, 4th main 2nd cross Domlur II stage. The event will be followed by an Illustrated talk on “Indian Crafts and Globalisation’.

French connection

DreamScope Theatres is staging
Cat's Paw, written by William Mastrosimone and directed by Puja Goyal on May 9, 10 and 11 from (3.30pm
and 7.30pm) at Nayana Ranga Mandira.

The all India premiere is the third collaboration of DreamScope Theatre with William Mastrosimone.

Mahadevbhai
