No, this is not the name of a scheme launched by the government or a bank. This is, in fact, the name of a new movie being directed by a woman NRI. Priya Bharati, a woman with an accent (as she herself proclaimed) is the debutant director of the movie. Though raised in American and Canadian cities she has not lost touch with her mother country and is carving to make a mark with this movie. She expressed that she would like to produce good movies for Sandalwood. Priya, unwilling to reveal the technology said that a ‘gadget’ will play a major role in the movie.
Diganth, Tejaswini along with newcomers Nina Mahesh (again an NRI) and Bharat are in the film. Diganth is set to play the role of Vishal who like many of the youngsters in India thinks that America is better to eke out a living. However, in course of time he realises his folly. Tejaswini (plays the role of Preeti) promises that she is ‘too’ involved with the movie and will do justice to the role. Nina Mahesh (plays Nilu, a reporter), who holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan is now taking Kannada classes to improve her accent ridden lingo, for the movie. Incidently, in the year 2001 Priya made a telefilm Guttu where popular actor Ganesh faced the camera for the first time.
The film has a shooting schedule of 40 days of which nearly 60 to 70 per cent is set to be shot in Karnataka. The crew will go to America in June for picturisation of three songs.
The film has five songs. Priya says that all five songs are different. Music Mint is providing the music. Suchitra Latha of the Mint said that team has provided music to Girish Kasaravalli, Girish Karnad and others.
Jayant Kaikini is writing the dialogues as well as the lyrics for the film. The film is slated for release during Deepavali.
