Mysore: Old-world charm in a new avataar
Quiet and unassuming - yet a delightful tourist attraction - Mysore is growing in ways probably unforeseen. Radha Prathi finds out what the residents of Mysore think of the real estate reverberations of the State capital, spilling over to their domain for respite from the exodus
Destination for all reasons
Two years back, a Rs 312 crore-package was announced for putting the growth of Mysore on a fast track. Then, when Karnataka Tourism started projecting Mysore as a destination town, the city started flourishing as a centre for medical tourism as well, explains Bindu Gopal Rao.
Royal embellishments
The architecture of Mysore has come a long way from the simplistic form and landscape of its 'agraharas' and 'mohallas', to the elaborate Indo-Saracenic style of its palaces, to the present smart buildings like that of Infosys and the trendy design of Yashashvi Convention hall.
Making the right connections in real estate
Old Mysore City had its own intrinsic energy with lakes and gardens spread across and around the city, which meant good Feng Shui and Vaastu. If Feng Shui is now adapted through proper town planning, community development and ecological balance, Mysore can and will surpass all other business centres in the world, while retaining its original beauty, feels S B S Surendran.
'Goodbye Bangalore, Hello Mysore' - for real?
Reminiscent of the erstwhile Jawa factory that made way for one of Mysores mega projects - Sankalp Central Park, N Niranjan Nikam finds out why modernisation in the form of apartments might still not change the charm and beauty of Mysores quaintness.
