It is a 'poor' ode to Visvesvaraya
DH News Service, Chikkaballapur:
The Samadhi of renowned engineer Sir M Visvesvaraya is getting a facelift as the works of renewing it began recently...

As much as Rs 3 lakh has been released for the renovation of the samadhi, out of which Rs 1.30 lakh has been released to lay the fence for the garden in front of the samadhi. Already a blueprint has been prepared for the development of the park and cleanliness work has also beem started.

Paltry sum

The onus of developing the park in front of the samadhi lies with the Horticulture department. Though Rs 3 lakh has been released for the renovation  the amount sanctioned is meagre, opined the officials of the horticulture department.

Two months back, in a meeting held the leaders of various organisations, bank officials, officials from various departments led by the Deputy Commissioner discussed the steps to be taken for renovating the samadhi of the renowned engineer and also had come to a decision that the responsibility of renovation would be given to the Horticulture department.

The residents of Muddenahalli are also of the same opinion. They say that the amount released is insufficient and that with such a meagre amount nothing much can be developed.

Assistant director of the horticulture department Dr Gayathri who inaugurated the launch of the renovation works of the samadhi said that there has been shortage of workers and said that it is very much necessary that more workers are employed for this purpose.

It is high time that not only the samadhi of Sir M V has to be renovated, but also the museum should also be renovated for the benefit of visitors.
