Dissidents Firm On Leadership
Bangalore, May 7.
Mr Shriman Narayan, Congress General Secretary, who arrived here this morning “to resolve the differences” in the Legislature Congress Party following the no-confidence move against the Nijalingappa Ministry by the dissident group, began his first round of talks with Congress Party-men at the Residency.
Mr Narayan who met as many as 150 legislators tonight, said in an interview that he hoped “to resolve the differences before leaving Bangalore tomorrow.”
New series Of Nuclear Tests
Washington, May 7.
Mr Charles Porter (Democrat – Oregon) said today that the United States Atomic Energy Commission began a series of 30 nuclear tests with an explosion at Eniwetok on April 28.
Mr Porter returned yesterday from the test atoll in the Pacific.

PM’s Plea To Defuse Punjab Situation
New Delhi, May 7.
Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today conveyed to Punjab Chief Minister Darbara Singh her concern over the situation in Punjab, particularly over the recent clashes in Patiala, and asked him to continue the efforts to defuse the situation.
Mr Singh was with Mrs Gandhi for nearly 25 minutes.
