Great way to begin Monday
Razia D
A Monday night at Olive Beach would make any jazz lover extend their weekend.

The beginning of a weekday is long forgotten once you enter this Mediterranean restaurant and bar. Olive Beach has introduced this revolutionary concept of easing a stressful Monday by giving a platform to jazz bands from across India.

Last Monday,  the restaurant witnessed its third jazz night showcasing the jazz-fusion band 'Just Us Trio' comprising  Sourav Roy (keyboards) Mainak "Bumpy" Nag Chowdhury (Bass guitar) and Ratul Shankar Ghosh (Cajun, congas) all the way from Kolkata. The trio played a mix of originals as well as covers including Cantaloupe Island by Herbie Hancock, Summer Time by Gershwin, Jean Pierre by Miles Davis, Foot Prints by Wayne Shorter and Afro Blue by Mongo Santa Maria. The trio's own compositions included Hamburg and Orange n Blue by Mainak `Bumpy’ Nag Chowdhury and Adios Amigos by Sourav Roy and Ratul Shankar Ghosh. Jazz lovers tapped their feet to the peppy numbers, bit into Mediterranean snacks and sipped on their martinis which complemented the evening perfectly. After every number the band received a loud applause which highlighted the enthusiasm and emphasised the reason for Monday Night Jazz. One had to be reminded that it is a weekday as the restaurant had people pouring in, making it no different from a Saturday night. The restaurant creates opportunities for budding jazz bands to make their talent heard and appreciated. Monday Night Jazz is held every first and third Monday of the month from 7 pm to 10 pm at Olive Beach. So Bangaloreans, you can welcome your Monday on a good note!
