In Bangalore with his troupe for the first time, Pouroosh Sorcar - known to his fans as P C Sorcar Master - opened the magic show in Town Hall with a bang.

In Bangalore with his troupe for the first time, Pouroosh Sorcar -  known to his fans as P C Sorcar Master  - opened the show  in Town Hall with a bang. The event organised by Priya Cultural Academy in association with REBI Property Shop will go on till May 31.

A performer from the age of six, Pouroosh enthralled his  schoolmates by showing them simple tricks before joining his father on the main stage. His most popular tricks include, `Cutting a lady in half’, `curse of Chemia’, `soul through soul’ and `passing through the deadly blades of a rotating Industrial fan’. Like his grandfather and father, Pouroosh too believes in reviving Indian culture, therefore to date he shows his grandfather’s famous “water of India “ trick.

Commenting on keeping up with legends such as his father and grandfather, Pouroosh said, “I may only be able to reach upto their standards but I will  never be greater than them.” His performances also include the Great Indian rope trick as well as the fire escape and underwater escape.

When asked if magic was a dying art, he replied, “Of course not, people are responding to magic shows like never before. The notion that magic is witchcraft is now completely eradicated and people are enjoying it as an art.”

The 35-member troupe will perform in Bangalore daily at 7 pm. The Sorcar family which already runs a school in Kolkata is now planning to open one in Chennai and if finance permits one in Bangalore. “It’s all for the interest of the people.”

So, what are the new tricks that he has up his sleeve? “If we get the permission and approval I will try to make Town Hall disappear for five seconds. Let’s hope everything works out.”
