Readers opinion : Whats worse Rains/ VIP visits?
BVP

Srivatsa, Software Engineer: I think the VIP visits create more inconvenience as traffic gets blocked for hours together. We already have to bear with bad roads and traffic problems, the VIP visits just add to the chaos. I don’t think it’s fair to put us through that. I don't see why they can’t find alternative ways for the VIPs to travel. They should be picked up in an helicopter and dropped off wherever they want to go. That way citizens aren’t disturbed.

Lakshmikanth Pai, Engineer: I think both cause a lot of trouble for us. We are affected by both, though I think VIP visits cause a bit more trouble. They use all the main routes in the City and traffic is affected. The Prime Minister’s visit this time caused a lot of traffic chaos, because of which my family and I didn't even venture into the City. They should really find another mode of transport for the VIPs.

Neelima, Freelance writer: VIP visits are only once in a while, so it’s not that big a problem as the rains and its related problems. It’s obvious rains cause more trouble and sometimes havoc as they occur more often. Rain is also more destructive, roads get flooded and the condition worsens. At least VIP visits don't do that. The city should be worrying more about how to deal with the rains and be better prepared for them.

Vandana Pandit, Homemaker: I think when VIPs visit, it creates a lot of problems. There is so much of traffic trouble that we have to deal with when they come in. The rains also create trouble but then its nature. You can't do anything about something that is part of nature. But something can be done about the VIP visits for sure. They should find alternatives so that people are not inconvenienced.
