The Lions Club of Someswarapura, Bangalore has chosen the topic 'The Man and Animal' for their annual painting contest organised specifically for the children of the underprivileged schools recently...

Man and animal interdependence persists since the emergence of human on this earth. But in present times the human greed and excessive need has made the animals their prime targets, which has left several species extinct in both domestic and forest areas.

In inculcate awareness in public on this issue, the Lions Club of Someswarapura, Bangalore has chosen the topic 'The Man and Animal' for their annual painting contest organised specifically for the children of the underprivileged schools recently.

Over four hundred enthusiasts between first to tenth standard participated in the event, and to the surprise, most of these children despite not having a drawing teacher in their schools, stood out boldly expressing their ideas through the visual medium.

Under the leadership of Lion KHY Swamy (President) and his team of Lions, the event was organised on Sunday in Cambridge Layout Park maintained by the Club. The children were provided drawing sheets, snacks, and in-between entertainment performed by Magician Satish Kumar. The paintings were judged by eminent artists Vishveswara Raju and Rani Rekha (J J School of Arts) who felt judging these works are hard task as each and every piece was unique portraying the concern of these young minds for animals. The prizes were awarded to winners, and participation certificates were provided to each participant.

The event was wholeheartedly supported by the parents who urged that the organisation should provide such opportunities to their children more often, as this may develop their artistic skills and allow them to participate in other wider contests such as the recent one launched on the topic

"The Peace Poster Contest" exclusively meant for children in the age group eleven and thirteen years from all over the world, which was sponsored by the Lions Clubs International, USA, and was supported by the Lions Club of Someshwarapura through Lions District 324 D-6.
