Rudram – an enchanting evening of music and dance will be held in aid of Vishranti, the home for Senior Citizens on December 28 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall at 6 pm.
What lies in store is a musical concert by Vikram Hazra, an India-based accomplished guitarist, flutist and bhajjan singer whose music has cut across barriers of race and language and has moved many a soul. Mireille, Lisanne and Stephanie, three musicians from The Netherlands will be performing to enthrall the audience with their musical odyssey.
There will also be a special Bharathanatyam performance by renowned Guru Prof C V Chandrasekar from Chennai. Vishranti is a multi-faceted home for senior citizens that provide not only physical as well as emotional shelter but also education and employment.

Padma Srinivasan and Jayalaxmi Srinivasan, better known as the Pizza Grannies, founded Vishranti with a vision to provide to the lonely elderly, to give shelter to the orphans both physically and emotionally, to spread literacy among the rural children, to impart non agricultural based skill development programmes like tailoring, baking and cooking on a large scale for the rural women to empower them and also to bring reformation in the mindset of villagers by teaching yoga, pranayama and meditation.
“The objective behind this concert is to not only bring musicians from varied backgrounds on one platform but also to create awareness about the need to create a home for the little orphans and the elderly who do not have the support of their families in their old age”, says Padma Srinivasan, managing trustee, Vishranti.
This fund raising event will not only bring melody and music that touches the heart but also promote a social cause that will provide care and comfort to the lonely elderly.
