Legend has it that thousands of years ago, three wise kings came bearing gifts on Christmas Day. This year, Camerata, a well-known and loved choir directed by Neecia Majolly, decided to renew the tradition in its own style at The Park on December 13.
The Camerata's debut performance, G F Handel's "Messiah" (perhaps the best loved choral composition in the world) was a great success the following year, presented at the J N Tata Auditorium, Bangalore. Since then, the choir has gone from strength to strength with their unusual repertoire ranging from 15 to 20th century Western Classical music, and has also performed J Haydn's "The creation”, J S Bach's "Christmas Oratorio” and in September this year, an unusual concert of 20th century sacred music featuring composers like Maurice Durufle, Benjamin Britten and Samuel Barber.
