BBMP Chief Engineer (Major roads) K S Krishna Reddy said finishing works are on. “Due to moisture at the work site we may not take up asphalting works on Sunday. However by Monday we will complete the work”, he said.
The Palike will take up construction of the underpass at BDA office junction soon after completion of the underpass at Cauvery junction. “BWSSB staff is engaged in shifting utilities. The Palike has asked the BWSSB to allow us to take up work by Wednesday. If they complete shifting by then the Palike will start work at BDA”, he said.
The Palike has not yet decided on the day to start allowing vehicles through the underpass. It will be decided in consultation with the Traffic Police, the chief engineer said.
Construction of the underpass began on December 16. Then, the BBMP commissioner Dr S Subramanya had said that the underpass would be ready in three days.
However this did not work out as the BWSSB water pipeline was ruptured during the excavation. Tackling the flow of seepage water was the problem.
