President of the District Working Journalists’ Association Chandramouli said that in this age of science and technology, students need to be fluent in the English language for commercial purposes along with their mother tongue.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the annual day celebrations of Jupiter Public School. “It is a myth that if students learn english they will neglect their mother tongue. Instead those who are well versed in the both the languages have a better chance in succeeding in all their endeavours.” he said.
He also appreciated that Jupiter Public school conducted various cultural programmes to allow its students to imbibe the Indian culture and way of life and give greater understanding of the magnificient history of our country.
The programme was presided over by Deputy Divisional Officer Anub Kumar who also spoke on the occasion. He said along with studies and books, cultural activities were also equally important for the all around development of the child. He added that while the cultural programmes were entertaining they should also be able to inspire a feeling of nationalism among the students.
Former President of Taluk Kannada sahitya Parishat M L Narasimhamurthy, senior journalist K Subbarao also spoke on the occasion.
