A young woman has a lodged a complaint with Robertson police station alleging betrayal by a man after promising to marry her.

Joyce (21) a resident of the Borilalpet used to work at the Maddaiah Kalyan Mantap in the city with her mother as daily wage worker. Narayana Reddy (35), the manager of the Kalyan mantap befriended her and also promised to marry her.

But Narayana Reddy, a resident of Paraandahalli village later refused to marry her, prompting Joyce to press rape charges against him. The police who arrested Narayana Reddy found that he was already married and has two children from his marriage.

A case has been registered by the police and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody. Police have sent Joyce  for medical examination. The case has been transferred to DySP M V Sheshan for further investigation.
