Lokayukta officials will seek complete details from the Immigration Department regarding the number of tours made abroad by Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation assistant manager V S Subrahmanya whose Bangalore residence was raided recently.
The decision was taken after the investigating team officials felt Subrahmanya was trying to mislead them by stating that he had lost his passport while returning from London.
“We will ask the regional passport office to give passport details of Subrahmanya. It is necessary to unearth the truth. The investigation cannot be completed based only on the information provided by the regional passport office. Therefore, we have decided to seek complete details from Immigration Department”, Lokayukta Santosh Hegde said.
Subrahmanya was in London along with his family members when his residence at Adarshnagar in Bangalore was raided. By the time he returned, the sleuths had laid a siege to his house. Subrahmanya promised the investigating team that he would cooperate with them. However, he told the team that he lost his passport while returning from London and had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard.
False complaint
The team members feel that he might have lodged a false complaint to mislead them. Subrahmanya is stated to have earned Rs 40 lakh income during his service and has reportedly spent more than that sum to travel abroad.
He told the team that he travelled abroad 15 times, but as the per the information collected by the team, he travelled abroad several more times. The number of visits abroad and the money spent will become clear only after the passport is recovered.
All measures would be taken to unearth the truth, Lokayukta Additional Director General Police, Lokayukta Roopkumar Datta said.
