Two women electrocuted
Bangalore, DHNS:
Two women were electrocuted in separate incidents in the City.


 Lakshmamma (40) was electrocuted after she came in contact with an electric transformer on Sunday morning. The victim, a housemaid, was dumping garbage near a transformer at Partapalya when tragedy struck.

In another incident Manjula, a 30-year-old employee in a garment factory and a native of Tarikere in Chitradurga district, was electrocuted on Saturday evening after she accidentally dipped her hand inside a water bucket which was connected to an electric coil heater at her residence in Nagarathpur.

Housewife ends life

A 24-year-old housewife committed suicide by hanging to a ceiling fan in her residence at Nagarathpura. Sumitra, a native of Erode in Tamil Nadu, was married to Perumal, a mason, for the past three years. According to the police Sumitra is said to have taken this extreme step due to family disputes. The Parapanaga Agrahara police are investigating.

Two houses burgled

Three miscreants made away with gold and silver valuables and cash from the residence of Muniappa, a clerk at Victoria Hospital, at Manjoor Village in Varthur police station limits on Sunday.

The miscreants decamped with 500 gram gold, 150 gram silver and Rs 23,000 cash in the wee hours of Sunday.
In another incident, miscreants made away with 106 gram gold worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 2 lakh cash from the residence of Jagadish in Chikabidrakal in Nelamangala. The victim, an employee at Mico, was not at home when the incident took place.

Cricket betting racket busted

The CCB sleuths busted a cricket betting racket by arresting two punters in a raid on Sunday afternoon in the City. Police recovered a cash of Rs 13,000 and chits pertaining to the transactions of Rs 30 lakh.

The DCP (Crime) N D Mulla said the raids were carried out on the basis of a vital information about online cricket betting by punters in a house at 12 Main, Rajaji Nagar at about 1 pm. The team nabbed Ramesh Lal and Deepak Shah, both in their early 40s. Illyas is said to be their boss, who operates from Chennai.
