Rs 7 crore sanctioned
Dist administration to take up Kundamestri project

District Administration has decided to kick start the Kundamestri Programme chalked out to provide permanent solution to the drinking water woes persisting in Madikeri city.

Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan has ordered to allot 1 acre land from survey no- 7/7 and 0.40 acre in survey no 41/0 from Galibeedu village for the programme and 0.25 acre separately for intake well and jack well for Madikeri City Municipal Council.

With the aim to start the Kundamestri Programme at the earliest, the DC along with ZP CEO K R Sundar and other officials visited the allotted site and directed the officials of the water supplies department, UGD Board and Municipal Council to start the process for the same on transferred of land.

7 crore sanctioned

A sum of  Rs 7 crore has been sanctioned for this project.

The project is being undertaken by the State Urban Water Supplies and UGD Board and Council Commissioner D H Roy has informed that after the Council receives the land, it will have to hand over the land to the Board so that the further necessary steps could be taken.

Mr Roy also informed that there is an immediate requirement to take up dredging at Kutuhole.

An action plan has been sanctioned to take up dredging of about 1 to 2 mts at a cost of Rs 78 lakh.
