9-year-old boy saves 7-year-old

Kalasa, dhns:  Presence of mind of a 9-year-old boy saved his 7-year-old sister from falling from a 15-feet high building, on Sunday.

Mohommad Sawad, a student of Prabhodini School, studying in 4th standard was playing with his sister Fathima Sunayana, a student of 2nd standard. While Fathima was playing on the roof top, Sawad was playing on the courtyard.

When Fathima lost her balance and was falling from the top, Samad on time came to her rescue, lifted his hands up to catch his falling sister. The timley catch saved his sister from major injuries.


Painting contest by Coast Guard

Vasahi Kumar of NMPT School, Anirudh of Sharada Vidyalay and Prathesh Shetty of Yenepoya School bagged first three places respectively in the Junior Group drawing competition while Vaibhav Shenoy of Canara School, Tejesh of Kerala Samaj and Esha Kumari of Kendriya Vidyalaya bagged first three places respectively in the senior group drawing competition organised by Coast Guards  as a part their 31st anniversary.  40 students from various schools participated in the competition with the theme ‘Marine environment and safe environment’. Prizes were given to the winners by Anuradha Hebbar, Vice-President of Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association.


Woman killed in mishap

Mulbagal, dhns: A woman was crushed to death when her tricycle came under the wheels of a KSRTC vehicle.

According to the police Ramanamma from Andhra Pradesh, and her two daughters, were heading towards Bangalore when the mishap occurred on the national highway in Mulbagal.

While the the daughters Honnamma (10) and Adilaxmi (8) escaped unhurt, the woman died on the spot.

Ramanamma was herself riding the cycle rickshaw and was moving to Bangalore in search of job. The daughters were sent back to their villages. A case has been registered.

Unidentified body found

Mulbagal, dhns: A man’s body has been found in Doddakere at Kurubarapeti near Anjanadri hills here on Saturday.

According to the police, the 38-year-old man with long face and medium frame, 5.2 feet tall has worn a blue nicker. The Mulbagal police have registered a case.

Man sentenced to imprisonment

Kolar Gold Fields, dhns: A man who was accused of throwing acid on his wife last year has been convicted by the Court and has been sentenced to 1year 3 month rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1000.

The accused Syed Babu, a Paraandahalli resident had allegedly thrown acid on his wife Ayesha Banu for not bringing money last year. The verdict was given by Principal Session judge M V Chandrashekhar.

It is said that Syed Babu use to regularly abuse his wife Ayesha Banu physically and mentally and use to harass her for money who sustained lot of injuries after the acid attack.

The Robertsonpet police station which filed a case against him also filed a charge sheet against him in the court.

Dharna in New Delhi

Chikkaballapur, dhns:

DYFI workers will stage dharna at Indian Parliament in New Delhi on February 25 condemning terrorism, imperialistic and anti-people attitude of the ruling UPA government and communal forces in the country,  said DYFI district secretary Srinath.

Speaking at the press conference held here recently he said 150 DYFI workers from the district will take part in the dharna.

DYFI district unit president Sriram, leaders Channarayappa, N L Bharat and others were present at the conference.
