Sejwal, Khade win gold medals

India’s Sandeep Sejwal won the gold medal in 50M breast stroke event at the Zoggs Queensland Sprint Championships in Brisbane.

Sejwal timed 30.16 seconds to come first in the open category. Khade, competing in the 16-years age group, timed 25.75 seconds to win the 50M butterfly gold while Shikha finished 11th in the semis of the 50M backstroke.
CA recce team to visit Pakistan

Cricket Australia (CA) officials are visiting Pakistan shortly on a fact-finding mission to determine if the planned tour of the South Asian country next month will proceed, CA chief James Sutherland said, reports PTI from Melbourne.

Soboleva breaks world record

Russia's Yelena Soboleva broke her own world women's indoor 1,500 metres record on Sunday when she clocked three minutes 58.05 seconds at the Russian national championships, reports Reuters from Moscow. Soboleva set her previous mark of 3:58.28 in Moscow on Feb. 18, 2006.

Ghana finish at third place

Hosts Ghana scored three times in the last 20 minutes to beat Ivory Coast 4-2 and finish third in the African Nations Cup on Saturday, reports Reuters from Kumasi.

Boubacar Sanogo scored twice in nine minutes to give Ivory Coast a 2-1 halftime lead. Quincy Owusu-Abeyie equalised in the 70th minute before goals from Junior Agogo and Haminu Dramani gave hosts the win.

Vincent fighting depression

New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent is battling depression and doubts he will play international cricket again, reports Reuters from Wellington.

“For as long as I can remember I've been riddled with self-doubt, I've had no self-belief, and I've just been hating the guy I've seen in the mirror, I remember so many days that should have been great days, when I've gone home, slumped over a chair and thought 'I just hate this and I hate myself,” Vincent said.

Superstars emerge champs

Pacer Tamil Kumaran captured five wickets while J Hariesh and Hemang Badani slammed half-centuries to help Chennai Superstars beat Delhi Jets by one wicket with four balls remaining in the final of the Indian Cricket League 50s tournament on Sunday, reports IANS from Chennai.

Brief scores: Delhi Jets: 240 all out in 48.3 overs (M Mishra 64, JP Yadav 45, Abbas Ali 45; Tamil Kumaran 5-38, Thiru Kumaran 2-25) lt to Chennai Superstars: 242/9 in 49.2 overs (J Hariesh 59, Hemang Badani 58, V Devendran 43).


Hamilton was abused in China’

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton suffered racist abuse from Spanish Formula One supporters in China last year as well, the head of the sport's governing body revealed. International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley told Britain's Sunday Times that he had been told by Hamilton's father of incidents at the Chinese GP in Shanghai last October.
