Marianne, graduated from Galsgow School of Art, and now works as Visual Arts Officer with Scottish Arts Council. Her acquaintance with scientists working on acoustics, shock waves, measurement of source inspired her to sketch soundscapes.
In an interaction with press persons at Venkatappa Art Gallery after formal inauguration of the exhibition Marianne said her paintings deal with different issues that cause noise. Nuclear power station, wind turbines, aeroplane occupy prime space in her works. “Advanced technology is the major source noise pollution. Whenever I notice sources of noise I feel like making a painting on that. My objective is to make general public aware of the pollution”, she said.
IISc Associate Director Prof N Balakrishna, who inaugurated the exhibition, said Maianne’s paintings would spread awareness on noise pollution. Exhibition of her paintings has been organised at Venkatappa Art Gallery on Kasturba Road. The exhibition will be on till February 23 between 10 am and 6.30 pm.
