TRI-SERIES CRICKET:  India Vs Sri Lanka

Dilshan guides Lanka to 8-wkt
victory in rain truncated match

Sri Lanka beat India by 8 wickets in the One-day international cricket match for the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Opener  Dilashan Tillakaratne was in a blazing mood, hammering the Indian bowlers all over the ground. SCORE-BOARD

Revised target left bowlers with no cushion: Dhoni
''I think ours was a decent total. Had it been a 29-overs-a-side game, things would have been different," a dejected Dhoni said after the match. "Besides, Sri Lanka got off to a great start. Both Sanath (Jayasuriya) and (Tillakaratne) Dilshan were just amazing. By the time we removed Jayasuriya, they were almost 50 in the fifth over," he said.
Rain or no rain, we would have won: Jayawardene
"It was a crucial game for us and we showed character. Winning the toss was an advantage and even though they batted really well, we planned the chase brilliantly," Jayawardene said.

County cricket feels threatened by IPL's emergence

Technology adding to pressure on umpires: Taufel
Taufel said during close caught behind appeals, the umpire has to make a split-second decision without getting any assistance from technologies like the snickometer. The Aussie felt loud crowds add to the pressure and until umpires get a device to hear faint nicks, it is impossible to get the decisions right all the time.
Former players should umpire to improve standards: Dean Jones
"The best umpires, probably apart from Simon Taufel, are the guys who used to be players like David Shepherd and Dicky Bird," Dean Jones was quoted as saying by 'The Daily Telegraph'.

BCCI to review bowling action of some bowlers

     Feast for the eyes

Feat for the eyes: The Fall season is a unique time - that makes our surrounding more vibrant and richly colourful than any other time of the year. It is sheer beauty to watch the leaves turn their colors from basic green to a vivid yellow or red or brown, only to finally dry & wither - all in a few weeks! - Photos sent by Dharmesh Viswanathan, Stuttgart, Germany.

    IT's new challenge
Is the slowdown of the US economy going to adversely impact the IT sector in India? Is there a way the industry can still sustain its growth? We asked our readers for their opinion and suggestions.

Most agreed that IT companies were certainly going to feel the pinch, and added that it was the hiring policies of these companies that were to be blamed.
There were others who were optimistic and said all was not lost as business could be diverted to new territories.
