The Japanese major is a leading system-on-chip, microcontroller, and discrete semiconductor solutions major.
Briefing reporters President & CEO Toshio Nakajima said the Bangalore office will offer assistance and advanced design support for multinational coporations and facilitate implementation of NEC Electronics by local businesses.
Nec, he said, will provide local support with hardware and software development bases in India.
The company’s field application engineers will offer assistance with implementing semiconductors in a wide range of consumer electronics, automotive and industrial systems. Besides, he said, the company will also cultivate relationships and business opportunities with local companies and make available to them NEC’s comprehensive line-up of general purpose and automotive microcontrollers, power management devices and system-on-chip solutions for digital consumer applications.
Located on 4th floor of Barton Centre, the India office to be headed by Krishnan Neelakantan a VLSI design expert with a team of five people, will be overseen by NEW Electronics’ Singapore subsidiary. The headcount of engineers is expected to be ramped up to 30 by end of calendar year 2007-2008.
A robust network of third party sales representatives and hardware and software design companies will facilitate sales and development, he added.
