Police nab 2, seize gold worth Rs 2 lakh

Police arrested two persons in connection with various theft cases across the State and recovered gold worth Rs 2 lakh on Wednesday.  The arrested are Shankar alias Shivashankar, a native of Honnali and Umesh, a resident of Haveri. The duo had looted two brothers’ houses in Purkkodi on February 5, 2007. There were several cases against the duo in Shankaranarayana, Kollur, Sagar, Ankola, Theerthahalli, Sisri and Goa police stations. The duo had escaped from the jail in Ankola in 2005.
