United efforts are necessary to bring tribal children into the mainstream besides taking sufficient precaution to see that they are not deceived of education, said Kodagu Rural Development Institute Director V S Roy David.
He was speaking at a participatory programme on child rights held under the aegis of Kodagu Rural Development Institute, Budakattu Krishikara Sangha, European Union and FSLT scheme of TDH at Yadavanadu Girijana Hadi Samudaya Bhavan.
As tribal children are deceived of education, they are becoming the victims of child trade and trafficking. Each child should get the knowledge of his/her rights, he said.
Presiding over the programme, Yadavanadu Ashrama School student Abhilashini said the workshop gave good inspiration towards the future of the children. Each Girijana child should be educated and should strive towards retaining tribal culture, she appealed.
Kudige Higher Primary School teacher H K Kumar, who inaugurated the programme stressed on the need for protecting child rights.
Taluk Primary Teachers’ Association Assistant Secretary T R Ramesh said such workshops helped children to develop learning habits and create awareness.
Taluk Krishikara Sangha President J K Dobi, students Poornima, Sundar, Mamtha presented their views.
