Students have no terror links, claims Intelligence dept
DH News Service, Tumkur:

No terror suspects have been picked up in the Tumkur city, according to  intelligence sources. Theyhave also said that they have no information indicating that the students inthe city have been supporting terror organisations.

Despite this information provided by the Intelligence sources , why is the H M S College in the city is being targeted and is associated with the terror suspects?

Is it a politically motivated move?

However, it can be observed that the H M S Engineering College is administered by the Muslim board. In addition to this former legislator Shafi Ahmed S is the president of the college. Moreover, as the college is run by the Muslim board a vast majority of the students are from the Muslim community.

Thus, against this background in the past week, rumours were spread stating that three students of the college were taken into custody by the COD for interrogation. However, the ground reality is that that the COD had not stepped in the Tumkur city and none of the students had been held for interrogation, stated the Intelligence sources.

This is a politically motivated move say the youth Congress activists.

Internal politics within the Congress party and the intention of denying the ticket to Mr Shafi Ahmed  could have led to this motivated act, said supporters of Mr Ahmed.

However, such rumours wherein connection between the college and terror suspects is established would only have a debilitating effect on the image of the college and on the future of the students, opined anxious students and the administrative board of the college.
