‘Do not spoil our future based on rumours.’ This is a common appeal of the students of the city H M S Engineering College to the media.
Both the medical and the engineering students in the city are under the grip of fear and uncertainty owing to rumours that are being spread around the arrest of the terrorists by the Honnali police and the information as told by them.
The manner in which students from outside the State and those belonging to one community are being looked upon in the city has become a matter of concern, informed students to the Deccan Herald.
The fear among the students has heightened due to the rumours that the H M S Engineering College is linked to the terror suspects and that three students of the college and two from the SIT College have been taken into custody by the COD for interrogation.
Bleak
A student from Davangere who is currently pursuing his studies at H M S college informed that he is feeling like discontinuing his studies after the incident and eventual fear that has gripped the students.
Hopes shattered
We have enrolled in this college as we thought we would be placed in better companies after the completion of our degree. However, now that remains doubtful due to this association with terror suspects, which is based on rumours, lamented a student.
This incident is going to cast a negative image on the college and affect the future of the students, observed the college management.
