Over 150 Congress and JD(S) workers from Chunchadenahalli of Vakkaleri hobli and surrounding villages of Vemgal assembly constituency joined BJP at a function organised by the party.
Speaking on the occasion BJP leader S N Sriram alleged that for five decades the Congress was engaged in maladministration, while the BJP Government, under the leadership of Atal Behari Vajpayee, came out with popular programmes like Grama Sadak Yojana and mid-day meals for primary school children.
He said senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa, in good faith, provided an opportunity to H D Kumaraswamy of JD(S) to rule the State, but later Kumarawamy betrayed Yeddyurappa and ensured that BJP did not rule the State.
After the pro-people budget of Yeddyurappa, the JD(S) did not allow the BJP to come to power as the JD(S) leaders could not tolerate the good name earned by Yeddyurappa.
Grama Panchayat member Balaji Chennaiah, who joined BJP recently said that service to the people is politics, but in recent times politicians has no principles. He said that he has joined BJP on the basis of its principles.
He said that though Union Minister K H Muniyappa, had been elected to the parliament for five times from the district, but he had not done anything for the district but instead he had created factions among Congress workers.
He appealed to the people to elect a true representative of the people, who understands and responds to the problems of the people.
Vemgal Block BJP President Byalahalli Anjaneya Reddy, Anand Goud, Chalapathi, Raghavendra, Shamanna, Bellur Shantakumar and others were present on the occasion.
