T T K Responsible For Mundhra Scam
New Delhi, Feb. 13.

The Chagla Commission has held that the Finance Minister Mr T T Krishnamachari, must “fully and squarely” accept the responsibility for what his Principal Secretary, Mr H M Patel, did in bringing about the Transaction of June 24 last year at Bombay relating to investments by the Life Insurance Corporation of over one crore and twenty-six lakhs of rupees in certain Mundhra concerns.

PM Fears Reaction From South
New Delhi, Feb. 13.

Prime Minister Nehru is reported to have made a brief reference in the resignation of Mr T T Krishnamachari at a meeting of the Executive of the Congress Parliamentary Party here today.

Mr Nehru said that he had been receveiving a spate of telegrams and letters from the South appealing to him not to accept the resignation.

Violence Rages On In Assam Valley
Guahati, Feb. 13.

Group clashes between religious and linguistic communities and incidents of arson and bomb blast are spreading in more areas of Kamrup, Nowgong and Lakhimpur districts in the Assam valley on the eve of the first phase of polling tomorrow.  Latest official reports reaching here said that at least 17 persons, including two girls, were reported killed and many others injured.
