On Valentine’s Day, Anandchhaya, an organisation working towards the welfare of dogs, is hosting ‘sponsor a dog’ programme to help raise funds for the shelter’s over 150 inhabitants. Apart from this, they are working on a long-term sponsorship idea (an online adoption facility) as well to be able to run some of the basic operations and to market the work to the outside for sustainability, as stated in a release.
The blog (anandchhaaya.blogspot.com) will regularly post details of dogs that need to be sponsored with updates so as to keep the sponsor informed. The minimum contribution of each dog is said to be Rs 3,500 per annum. The reason for this project on Valentine’s Day, according to sources in the organisation, is to drive home the simple philosophy that kindness to animals helps build a better world for all of us. Donations received for this cause will go towards supporting the 170 dogs in Anandchhaaya. For details visit anandchhaaya.blogspot.com
