Health is not only about not being ill. It’s also about one’s well-being. Through this expo, we want people to look at health positively. This is why it has been clubbed with beauty, making it a platform for people to pamper their body’s well-being,” said Deepak, organiser, ‘Health and Beauty Expo’, held recently in the City at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. As the title suggests, this theme-based expo had all the popular health and beauty brands under one roof.
From cosmetics, ayurveda, herbal, fitness, organic to nutrition - practically every category was covered in the 65 stalls at the expo. Green teas, massage recliners, cosmetic brands, latest in the pharmaceutical sector - customers were seen testing and trying various products on display.
Hands-on experience of the products was the primary idea behind the expo.
To which Deepak said, “It’s a great platform for people to sample different products available in the market, all under one roof. Some products here are available only through distributors and not over-the-counter. People can try them too. A discussion area has been set aside, where experts from all walks of life make presentations and hold discussions on a variety of topics related to health and beauty.”
Need for expo
The exhibitors too acknowledged the need for an expo of this nature. Exhibitor Anshu Bharadwaj, regional manager South - Amway, said, “Fifty-five per cent of our sales in India come from health and beauty brands.
The direct-selling model of this expo is beneficial, for our company is focussed towards the distributors. Here we meet our customers and get immediate feedback. We participated in this expo in Chennai a year ago and got a fantastic response. This expo helps in building awareness.”
Reiterating her viewpoint, exhibitor Vibhuti Sharma, regional technical head - VLCC, said, “It’s a great platform for exhibitors as well. First, we can upgrade our services based on the direct customer feedback. Second, we get updated on our market competitors as well.”
Sampling, counselling, demonstrations and direct interaction with the customers - this niche expo was an aggressive promotion of national and international products and an apt platform for those indulgent in the beauty and fitness segment.
