Gowda calls on PM over Rly Budget
New Delhi, DHNS:

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded allocation of sufficient funds in the forthcoming railway budget to the pending projects of Karnataka.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Gowda said there were several railway projects which began in 1996-97 when he was the prime minister but still languishing for lack of proper allocation of funds. “The PM said he will look into the matter,” Gowda remarked.

When asked whether the issue of reports of postponement of elections in Karnataka figured in the talks, Gowda replied he discussed only the  State railway projects. “I did not want to even discuss about the decisions taken by the governor”.

He, however, stated that he was for holding of elections within the stipulated six months of imposition of President’s rule.

On the issue of delimitation, he merely stated that the issue was before the court.
