Inaugurating the G Mallikarjunappa Institute of Technology he said that organisations which have links with extremist outfits abroad are spreading their tentacles secretly in this state. It is worrying that some young students and professional from Karnataka are getting drawn into the terror net.
He said the previous NDA government had contributed significantly in making the country strong and prosperous by implementing schemes such as world class network of highways, telecom and Information technology and Sarva Shikshan Abhiyan.
The government encouraged the Indian diaspora to become a partner in the evolution of a new and resurgent India with initiatives like Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and dual-citizenship in several countries. The Vajpayee government made India a “nuclear weapons state” and heightened national pride, he said.
Advani wondered whether politicians and governments are doing enough to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of today’s young generation. Educated youth are dreaming of going to the West, especially to USA not only to stud but also to settle there as India was not seen as a land of opportunities.
However, he said, educated and successful Indians settled abroad are returning since India itself has been providing exciting opportunities in business and profession. Many foreigners, including those from the West, are coming to India in search of high-end employment opportunities, he explained.
He regretted that crores of youths in the country still remained excluded from the progress, prosperity and global profile that India has achieved in the recent years and all of us in society have a responsibility to ensure that everyone benefits from India’s rise.
Advani said that India is and will remain one of the youngest nations in the world for a long time compared to many other countries. The country would soon have the largest working age population in the entire world, he added.
