“We will continue adding names in the rolls till the last date of receiving the nomination papers for elections to be announced by the Central Election Commission,” Chief Electoral Officer R Ramsheshan told reporters on Wednesday.
Only those who have crossed 18 years before January 1, 2008 can include their names in the list by filling in Form 6.
The draft voters’ list, except Bangalore urban and BBMP jurisdictions, will be published on Feb 14. Public can file their objections, if any, between Feb 15 and 23. For Bangalore urban (four assembly constituencies) and BBMP (16 constituencies), the draft will be out on Feb 18 and objections can be filed till Feb 26. This is because there is some delay in data entry with respect to these two areas, he said.
The draft copies will be distributed to all political parties, besides uploading them on the website -- ceo_karnataka@eci.gov.in
The final copy of the voters’ list will be published on March 10. People can be file their objections against the draft list at the respective taluk office or to block level officer or revenue officer.
OCEO has deleted around 52 lakh invalid names and added around 32 lakh in the voters’ list during the electoral revision process. The State will have an estimated 3.96 voters, he said.
Before deleting names, OCEO has issued notices to those persons. Besides, all complaints filed in this regard have been thoroughly examined during the revision process, he added.
