Change dumping ways
Bangalore, DHNS:

Earmark spaces for temporary storage of garbage before transporting it to the dumping yard, BBMP Commissioner S Subramanya has said. The garbage is presently dumped on footpaths at various places.
He was speaking at a workshop on ‘Solid Waste Management’, organised by BBMP.

Mr Subramanya said the City generates 3,500 tonnes of waste every day and a proper system must be in place to dispose it properly. He called for extending payment to private garbage contractors not only for ‘rejects’ (garbage that cannot be recycled) but also for `accepts’ (garbage that can be recycled).
